WallCAP has been funded in its development phase by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, and the development phase ran from October 2017 until June 2018. The delivery of WallCAP is intended to run from October 2018 until September 2021, subject to a successful second-stage application to National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Activities and projects will be offered across the length of the Hadrian’s Wall corridor, from Tyneside to the Cumbrian coast, for the duration of the project.
Our current project timeline is: June 2018 – submission of stage 2 application to National Lottery Heritage Fund
October 2018 – start of WallCAP delivery phase
Year 1, 2018-2019 – initial start of projects, which will include a range a activities including survey and excavation, vegetation clearance, identifying rocks, and examining and recording historic buildings (like castles and churches)
Year 2, 2019-2020 – carry forward projects and initiate work at new locations. Create exhibitions and installations for museums along the Wall Corridor. Creation virtual galleries.
Year 3, 2020-2021 – finalise projects, completion of project report, site reports, & publications. Archiving information and data sharing with Project Partners and stakeholders.
December 2021 – the project is completed.
